A mum at music class, was talking about the Dolly Varden cakes she makes for her daughters’ birthdays, when I got interested. I made a doll cake recently, using a mixing bowl, as I don’t have a Dolly Varden tin. I am not good at piping icing yet, nor am I keen on loading the cake with so much sugar. So I decided to use marshmallows to decorate the cake. I used ganache to stick them onto the cake. I put a Strawberry Shortcake doll in the centre. My little one was sooo pleased and impressed, so were the guests, whom we had invited to dinner.
